Job Brief
We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Theater Stage Engineering System Project Engineer to lead the planning, execution, and completion of stage engineering projects within theatrical venues. This role requires a strong combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality results. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of stage engineering systems that meet the unique needs of each production.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Project Planning: Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and budgets for stage engineering system installations and upgrades. Coordinate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
- Design and Engineering: Work closely with architects, designers, and technical specialists to develop detailed engineering designs for stage rigging, automation, and special effects systems. Ensure that designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and artistic requirements.
- Procurement and Resource Management: Identify project resource requirements, including materials, equipment, and personnel. Procure necessary resources and manage vendor relationships to ensure timely delivery and cost-effective solutions.
- Project Execution: Oversee the implementation of stage engineering projects from initiation to completion. Coordinate construction activities, equipment installations, and system testing to ensure adherence to project schedules and quality standards.
- Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to address technical, logistical, and scheduling challenges. Monitor project progress and proactively address any issues that may arise during the execution phase.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain regular communication with project stakeholders, including production teams, venue management, and external partners. Provide updates on project status, milestones, and budgetary matters to ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare project documentation, including Material Submission, Shop drawings, Operation manuals and installation manuals. Generate project reports detailing progress, expenditures, and lessons learned for review by senior management and stakeholders.
Requirements and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Theater Technology, or related field. Master’s degree or professional certification in project management is a plus.
- Proven experience managing stage engineering projects within theater, entertainment, or live event environments.
- Strong technical expertise in stage rigging, automation, and control systems, with knowledge of industry best practices and standards.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
