Job Brief:

As an IT Networking Specialist, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization’s network infrastructure to ensure reliable connectivity, security, and performance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business operations, troubleshoot network issues, and implement scalable solutions to meet evolving technology requirements.

Responsibilities:

  1. Network Design and Implementation: Design and implement network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN solutions, to support business operations and ensure seamless connectivity for end-users.
  2. Network Security: Implement and maintain security measures, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, and access control lists (ACLs), to protect the organization’s network from unauthorized access, malware, and other cyber threats.
  3. Network Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor network performance, analyze traffic patterns, and identify areas for optimization and improvement. Implement network monitoring tools and protocols to proactively detect and resolve issues, minimize downtime, and optimize resource utilization.
  4. Troubleshooting and Support: Respond to network-related incidents, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and provide timely resolution to minimize impact on business operations. Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to resolve complex technical issues and escalate as needed.
  5. Network Infrastructure Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as firmware upgrades, patch management, and configuration changes, to ensure the stability, security, and compliance of the network infrastructure.
  6. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, topology diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Generate regular reports on network performance, capacity utilization, and security posture for management review.
  7. Capacity Planning: Assess current and future network capacity requirements based on business growth projections, technology trends, and usage patterns. Recommend and implement scalable solutions to accommodate increasing bandwidth demands and new business initiatives.
  8. Training and Knowledge Sharing: Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry best practices, and security threats relevant to network infrastructure. Share knowledge and provide training to IT staff and end-users to enhance awareness and skills in network management and security practices.
  9. Integration Solution Design: Lead the design and architecture of integrated solutions for airport systems, including passenger processing, baggage handling, security, and operational management.
  10. Requirements Analysis: Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements, functional specifications, and technical constraints, translating them into scalable and robust architectural designs.
  11. Technology Evaluation: Evaluate and recommend suitable technologies, platforms, and frameworks to meet project objectives, considering factors such as performance, scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness.
  12. Integration Planning: Develop integration strategies and roadmaps for connecting disparate systems and applications, ensuring interoperability and data consistency across the airport ecosystem.
  13. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, system engineers, project managers, and business analysts, to align architectural decisions with project goals and timelines. Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  14. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and dependencies associated with solution architecture and propose mitigation strategies to ensure project success and compliance with regulatory standards.
  15. Quality Assurance: Define and enforce architectural standards, best practices, and quality guidelines throughout the development lifecycle, conducting regular reviews and audits to maintain solution integrity.
  16. Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in airport operations and integration solutions. Proactively identify opportunities for innovation and process optimization.

Requirements and Skills:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  2. 5 years of experience in network administration, design, and support roles.
  3. Proficiency in network protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), and switching technologies (e.g., VLANs, STP).
  4. Hands-on experience with network equipment, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points, from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, and Aruba.
  5. Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices, including encryption, authentication, authorization, and security policies.
  6. Experience with network monitoring and management tools, such as Wireshark, Nagios, SolarWinds, and Cisco Prime.
  7. Relevant certifications, such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA Network+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or equivalent, preferred.
  8. Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
  9. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
